beauty day

So I'll tell you something uber-embarrassing...while on vacation over the holidays I was the most active I've been in years. Playing tennis two hours a day, swimming nonstop, biking everywhere, yoga, kayaking, walking on the beach, endless play early morning to nightfall. I was feeling amazing and so excited to end 2012 so toned, and start 2013 on such a solid note.

Then I sneezed.

Seriously, really really hard, SNEEZED. This sneeze came as I was wearing a bikini on the beach, pulling a super large lounge chair. Now, I don't know if it was the sneeze alone or the combo of events set it off, but I was struck with the worst pain of my life. Forget drug-less childbirth, this pain was unlike anything I've ever felt. And not only that but my arms were stuck IN THE AIR. I simply could not put them down. Physically COULD NOT. My first thought was I broke my neck. Truly, I thought that actually for the first 12 hours of this ordeal. The nurse that came to my room (since I couldn't walk), assured me it wasn't a broken neck, gave me some muscle relaxers and diagnosed me with an "acute muscle spasm" !!

Long story short, I now know I actually misplaced two ribs and as a result my muscled spasmed.

So now it's the new year, my body is feeling beaten and all I want to do is work out, feel good and be strong again. A chiropractor seems to have put the bones back in place, but I live in fear of sneezing and of working the muscles too hard too fast.

I was told to concentrate on my lower body and slowly work up to the shoulders where the ribs where misplaced.

Below are the amazing exercises I've found on Bethenny.com, to toning my ass and minimally working on my new problem area.
